With party bells and white snow you went away as if by magic ... perhaps to remind us to always keep purity and joy in our hearts, because so were you, always cheerful, funny, witty and nice and you made us laugh with yours jokes and your squabbles with Uncle Leo. We want to keep these beautiful memories in our hearts. Now you shine next to grandpa and dry our tears as the sun does on snow. You have always been our Super Grandmother, our Super Woman, a fighter woman, an overwhelming woman who with the strength of the Lord has won every battle, a woman who made us believe in miracles, in those you do not expect, here because you are our spring snow! Snow has come down on your last birthday and snow has come down to softly take you back on the day of your ascent to the sky. We proudly told everyone that we had a great-grandmother and our dear uncle Leo in America, although the distance saddened us a lot, but now there is no ocean that divides us to watch over us all from the highest heaven. I used to do Connie’s hair at Ficara’s Hair Design on the corner of Campfield Avenue and Preston Street. She was such a sweet lovely lady and I enjoyed being with her. Her son was so attentive to her and I enjoyed him too. My sincere condolences to the family. Lorraine Ficara

Dear grandmother, we all mourn your absence, you have left an unbridgeable void within us. You have gone to a better place and now we like to imagine that you will be happy together with your beloved Gilberto with whom you have long wanted to reunite. Grandma you have been AN EXAMPLE OF STRENGTH for us for having fought so many battles in your life from which you have always come out winning. It is from you that we must learn that constancy and tenacity always brings results. You always had the right answer to everything, as a WISE person you were, your proverbs were a continuous teaching of what the "popular saying" was real life. We never got tired of listening to the story of your life, from the engagement to the marriage with your dear husband, to the dark periods from emigration to the thousand adventures for reuniting with the family, to the letters written and received during the distance, to the sacrifices made for your job, to sweaty overtime at home without ever stopping. Grandmother even with these pills of life you taught us that NO ONE GIVES YOU NOTHING but only the sacrifice for the FAMILY gives you a thousand satisfactions. It is precisely the family that has led you to suffer again because everyone has chosen their own path and even if it was not what you wanted. You have been autonomous and independent all your life and you have struggled to accept that at your age it was up to Uncle Leo to take care of you in all respects and he did it to the fullest and you have always recognized and appreciated this. You had a pain at the very thought of having to leave him alone because you have always been for each other. It will be hard for Uncle Leo but we would make sure he never feels alone. You would have wanted a big party, all together, just because you wanted another chance to hug us all again, but now you can look at us, and smile at us from the sky, this is the best prize for YOU! Dear Nonna, 
We will always treasure in our hearts everthing you taugh us, especially how to face difficult times, you showed us how to be strong and trust in our Lord Jesus, you always said " Con l'aiuto del Signore ".
We remember all the special moments spent together especially I, Christina,  remember when I was a child, how you were welcoming , how you ,Nonna, prepared special meals for everyone and how we used to eat all together around your long beautiful table. I remember that  you cooked every Sunday for nonno Donato and how you took good care of nonno Gilberto.  I remember when we used to come and pick you up at work and I can still see you sewing drapes at home. All these memories warm my heart. Nonna I want to thank you once again for giving me your little white cross that I wore on my wedding,  this meant a lot to me . Nonna we all miss you but we are consoled knowing that you are happy to stay with nonno Gilberto enjoying heaven. We are certain that you will continue to pray for us.

Cara nonna,
noi tutti piangiamo la tua assenza, hai lasciato un vuoto incolmabile dentro di noi. Te ne sei andata in un posto migliore e ora ci piace immaginare che sarai felice  insieme al tuo amato Gilberto con il quale già da tempo volevi ricongiungerti. 
Nonna tu per noi sei stata UN ESEMPIO DI FORZA per aver combattuto nella tua vita tante battaglie  da cui ne sei uscita sempre vincente. E' proprio da te che dobbiamo apprendere che la costanza e la tenacia porta sempre dei risultati. Tu avevi sempre la risposta giusta a tutto, da persona SAGGIA quale eri, i tuoi proverbi erano un continuo insegnamento di ciò che da "detto  popolare" era la vita reale. Noi non ci stancavamo mai di ascoltare la storia della tua vita, dal fidanzamento al matrimonio con il tuo caro marito, ai periodi bui dall'emigrazione fino alle mille peripezie per il ricongiungimento con la famiglia, alle lettere scritte e ricevute durante la lontananza, ai sacrifici fatti per il tuo lavoro, alle ore di straordinario sudate a casa senza fermarti mai. Nonna anche con queste pillole di vita ci hai insegnato che NESSUNO TI REGALA NIENTE ma solo il sacrificio per la FAMIGLIA ti dà mille soddisfazioni.
E' proprio la famiglia ti ha portato a soffrire ancora perchè ognuno ha scelto la propria strada e anche se non era ciò che volevi.
Sei stata tutta la vita autonoma e indipendente e hai faticato ad accettare che alla tua età toccava a zio Leo occuparsi di te in tutto e per tutto e lo ha fatto al meglio e questo l'hai sempre riconosciuto e apprezzato.  Avevi una pena al sol pensiero di doverlo lasciare solo perchè voi siete sempre stati l'uno per l'altra. Sarà dura per zio Leo ma noi faremmo in modo che non si senta mai solo.
Avresti voluto una grande festa, tutti insieme , solo perchè desideravi un'altra occasione per riabbracciarci tutti, ma ora puoi guardarci, e sorriderci dall'alto del cielo, questo è il premio più bello per TE!
