Carol was born in New Britain, CT on September 14, 1937. She grew-up in Manchester, CT with her sister and her best friend Ruthie Nichols Cowser. She raised her four children with her husband in both Hartford, CT and Rocky Hill, CT, where she lived happily for 52 years. Carol worked as a secretary for many years alongside her husband at his painting and contractors’ business William D. Walsh & Co. She later proudly worked as a bank teller at both Equity and Webster bank in Wethersfield, CT, coming into work wearing the most fashionable clothes. Carol was a proud member of AA for over 25 years. To all her friends in the program, she asked to say a loving thank you for their love and friendship.
Carol was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and foremost cherished time shared with family. She had the most beautiful smile, contagious laugh, and wonderful heart, caring for all those who were blessed to be in her presence. She loved her many pets including her golden retrievers, Shih Tzu Mai-Ling, and cat Muffin. Attending ceramics classes with Carol Struthers and crafting were her most rewarding passions. She made bright, beautiful blankets she gifted to each grandchild, tote bags, cow eggs, country cats, runners, oven mitts, cards, and so much more. Carol enjoyed line dancing and everything country, including cowgirl boots, cows, country music, and her crafting business, The Cows Meow, where she sold many of her homemade crafts. Even with her fear of flying she enjoyed traveling with Ruthie to Hawaii, going to shops in Boston with her beloved Aunt Mary and Uncle George Meyers, and taking Sunday drives with her parents. She had a knack for collecting items like buttons, watches, and figurines. Carol was the UConn Women’s basketball team’s biggest fan! She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and watching tennis, golf, and most recently MMA on TV. Her famous deviled eggs, coleslaw and pink applesauce she brought to family events will truly be missed.
Her family wishes to thank her loving neighbors for showering her with care and her medical team who provided her with more comfort in her final years. Carol will continue to be at rest thanks to her faith in the Lord and love of God.
Calling hours and a prayer service will be held on Friday April 5th, 2024, from 10am to 12pm at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield, CT. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd, Bloomfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in her father’s name Victor I. Meyers.
