Anthony Joseph Mascolo, 78, of Wethersfield, loving husband of Dorothy (Palshaw) Mascolo, died Sunday, (November 16, 2008), at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born July 27, 1930 in Hartford and was the son of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Cavallo) Mascolo. Tony grew up in the Park and Broad Street neighborhood of Hartford. He graduated from the Immaculate Conception School and Hartford Public High School. He served in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. He was a graduate of the University of Hartford with a degree in History and Economics. His early endeavors included jobs as a lifeguard for the Hartford Parks and Recreation Department, a salesman for Coca Cola and later was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Tony began his lifelong career as a stockbroker in 1968, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Italian American Club, and the American Cribbage Congress, Grass Roots Club #26 where he won several awards and tournaments. The greatest joy of Tony's retirement, however, was spending time with his eight grandchildren. Besides his beloved wife Dottie of 51 years, he is survived by his three children, Michael Mascolo and his wife Rebecca of Morristown, NJ, Joanne Roux and her husband Norman of Berlin and William Mascolo of New Mexico; his adored grandchildren, Daniel, Elijah, Joey, Amanda, Kate, Amelia, Rachel and Nicky; his siblings, Sister Anna Grace Mascolo, MPF, Amelia Vicino, Rosemarie Mascolo and Joseph Mascolo and his wife Gail as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be Friday (November 21) at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Avenue, Hartford. The burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel.
