PETERSON, Thomas E., 79, of Paramus, NJ, passed away on Thursday, March 4th, 2021, comforted by the presence of his adoring wife of more than 50 years, Sharon, and his loving daugther, Amy. Tom was born in Granite Falls, Minnesota and grew up in Renville, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife Sharon; his son Bret and his wife Tana Peterson, and daughter Amy and her husband Christopher Hessenthaler; his grandchildren Thorsten, Jaeden, Samuel, Elliana, Charlie, and Theo. Also his brother Jerry Peterson. He is predeceased by his parents Jerald Peterson and Agnes Berg Peterson.
After earning an accounting degree at Mankato State University, Tom moved to New Jersey where he worked as a systems analyst at Bendix Corporation in Teterboro, NJ where he met his wife. He continued to have a long and successful career first at Bendix, then he moved on to become an operational systems analyst at Irving Trust Bank in New York City, which eventually became Bank of New York.
Tom and Sharon happily celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2020. Traveling the world together with Sharon, walking his dogs, and building and fixing various things around the house, were among Tom's many hobbies. Most of all, Tom enjoyed spending time with friends and family. True to his Minnesota roots, there wasn't anyone Tom wouldn't chat with or help in a time of need. He was, as they say, a salt of the earth type of person.
The family will receive guests at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ on Wednesday, March 10th from 10A-12PM with interment to follow at Garden Of Memories Cemetery in Township Of Washington, NJ. Memorial contributions can be made in Thomas' name to St Hubert's Animal Welfare Center in Madison, NJ.
