Ralph Gallucci (Ret. Lt. Colonel, U.S. Army), 86, of Montvale, passed away on Tuesday, August 7th. Ralph was born in West New York to Gertrude (nee Pizzuto) and Michael (Mike the Barber) Gallucci on leap day, February 29, 1932. He graduated from Memorial High School and went on to earn a degree in Textile Engineering from Clemson University in 1954. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army and served in Germany, ultimately attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel with service in the Army and later, the Reserves. Ralph began his civilian career in November 1956 with JP Stevens, eventually moving to Dan River where he worked until his retirement in 2000.
Ralph maintained a lifelong passion for the New York Giants and attended home games as a season ticket holder since 1962. He also loved horses and visited Saratoga annually with good friends to enjoy the summer races. He was also known as a wonderful dancer. He and his wife, Anna, could be counted on to thrill crowds with their lindy skills on special occasions. He spent his leisure time golfing and playing bocce. Throughout his life, he enjoyed his close friends from West New York. He was an active member of the Lakewood Social Club and the Montvale Senior Club.
He is survived by his loving wife Anna (nee Iovino) of 63 years. Also by his children Anthony of Hackensack, Donna and Patricia of Smith Mountain Lake, VA, and Michael and his wife Christine of Montvale. Ralph also leaves behind his four adoring grandchildren, Michael Ashby, Nicholas, Anna, and Joseph, and his brother Michael Joseph and his wife Eileen. The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Friday, August 10 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Ralph’s life and faith will be held at St. Gabriel the Archangel R.C. Church, Saddle River, NJ on Saturday, August 11 at 10:00AM.
