Nancy Rosamond Horan (nee Rose) passed away peacefully on May 13, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence, New City, NY. Nancy was a resident of Suffern and previously, Sloatsburg, NY. Her familial roots are deep in the history of the lower Hudson Valley, Sloatsburg, Tuxedo, and the lands that became Harriman State Park.
Daughter of Harry E. Rose and Eva Elizabeth Roe Rose, she was born in Sloatsburg, NY on September 22, 1934. She was raised in Sloatsburg and at Lake Sebago (Harriman State Park), NY. She graduated from Suffern High School and went on to work as a secretary for management of Avon Products in Suffern until she married Harold J. Horan (Haverstraw) in 1954. Together, they raised six children, each of whom they were very proud. Harold predeceased Nancy in 1989.

Her adored grandchildren: Autumn Kirbyson (Frank), Heather Rossi (Peter), Terrence and Ryan Horan, Dennis Rose (Debbie), Justin and Kayla Villanyi, Sean Burke (Katrina), and Logan and Landon Geddes. Her great grandchildren: Abigail and Anabelle Kirbyson, and Belle Burke. Nancy also has many nieces and nephews who adore her. Nancy also leaves behind her long time best friend, Mary Rose.
Nancy is survived by her siblings: sisters Elizabeth Schuler, and H. Eve Sansone (Leonard) and her brother William Rose (Leslie). She is predeceased by sister, Priscilla (Joan) Ventola and two wonderful brothers-in-law James Schuler and Samuel Ventola.
Nancy retired from Novartis as a Quality Assurance Inspector in 1995. She had many interests and enjoyments. In her younger years she was active in summer and winter sports on her beloved Lake Sebago. She was an avid crossword puzzler and reader. She took pleasure in tending to her little flower gardens and watching them grow. She loved spending time in Phoenicia, NY with her retired parents and all of the family gatherings there. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events, their school concerts and productions. She was most happy when she was with her children and their families. We will always love and miss her. She held our hands as children but she will forever hold our hearts.
A final tribute to Nancy will be held at Becker Funeral Home, Westwood, NJ on Saturday, May 30th at 1:30 PM. At her request and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to "Wounded Warrior Project" 370 7th Ave. Suite 1802 NY, NY 10001 or to "United Hospice of Rockland" 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956.
