Joyce Ruth Wagner, affectionately known by her grandchildren as “Mima”, passed away on August 11, 2024, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved ones. Born on November 8, 1949, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Joyce led a fulfilling life marked by devotion to her family and friends.
Joyce earned her degree in Dental Hygiene from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She dedicated over 30 years to her career as a Dental Hygienist, where her professional skills were admired by her colleagues and her caring nature was adored by her patients.
Joyce was a beacon of love and generosity, always putting others before herself. Being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother were one of the most important roles of her entire life. A doting grandmother, Mima found the utmost joy in spending quality time with her grandchildren. Whether hosting “no rules” sleepovers with funny stories, trips to town to see the train, never missing any of their many activities, creating a sand box in the front yard, or endless visits to the boardwalk and Van Saun Park, Mima would do anything for her beloved Logan, Addison, and Mackenzie. Joyce was a vibrant presence, known for her energetic and active lifestyle. Her vivacious and creative personality was evident through her hobbies, which included creating innovative cocktails, traveling (Joyce always found the best local spots), skiing, and exercise with regular fitness classes, including spinning, rowing, and strength training. Joyce also cherished going to the movies with friends and her time at Chadwick Beach and the Jersey Shore, making lasting memories with friends and family.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Frank Wagner; her sons, Jeffrey and Kevin; daughter-in-law, Samantha; and her grandchildren, Logan, Addison, and Mackenzie. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth (Pierro) and Samuel Berlen.
