John A. Wittekind, Jr.

John A. Wittekind Jr, 55 of Montvale NJ succumbed to Leukemia on the 11th of November 2022. John was born in Jackson Heights, New York to John and Grace Wittekind and moved to Hillsdale New Jersey in 1976. John graduated from Pascack Valley High School in 1985. John is survived by his loving wife, children and family.

John had a long career as a Code Enforcement Official in Building and Code Departments, most recently in the towns

of Franklin Lakes and Oakland. He previously served as a volunteer in the Hillsdale and Montvale Fire Departments. John loved to play golf, cook and barbeque and help animals in need.

With a strong desire to follow in the footsteps of his Grandfather and Great Grandfather, he was passionate about being a firefighter and just being active in the firefighting community.

The wake and prayer service will take place at Becker Funeral home in Westwood NJ on Wednesday, 16th of November 2022 from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Mercy in Park Ridge NJ on 17th November 2022 at 10 am and interred at Maryrest in Mahwah NJ immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to St Jude Children's Research Hospital or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
