Christopher A. Patterson, 61, of Park Ridge, NJ, passed peacefully on February 22, 2015 surrounded by his beloved wife, Renee, and his three loving children, Erika, Robert and Carly. A warm hearted and compassionate man with an infectious laugh and a quick smile, Chris joined his wife’s family’s NYC Sign Business in 1981. Under the tutelage of his father-in-law, Chris learned the art and science of production management and was quickly promoted to General Manager and ultimately to VP of the company. He toiled tirelessly for 34 years implementing modern manufacturing practices that helped to streamline and grow the business. Chris was a man you could count on any time of the day or night to lend a hand, a sympathetic ear, a kind word of encouragement, a shoulder to lean on or even financial support. He was always there for those in need and never hesitated to give completely of himself. Outside of work, his passion was cooking, and he was renowned for his fried lumpia and “ugly dip” sauce. No gathering was complete without it and his home was the scene of many joyous Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations. Chris loved to host a good party, surrounded by a cadre of family, friends, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, all laughing and celebrating alongside him. A man of great personal strength, conviction and integrity, Chris lived his life fully and with vigor and determination, each and every day, and he touched the hearts and souls of all those who came into contact with him. He was taken from us much too soon and will be sorely missed by all. A memorial gathering celebrating Chris’s life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 12-2PM at Becker Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1pm during the memorial gathering. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the fight against pancreatic cancer at the Lustgarten Foundation website, curepc.org in his memory.
