Winifred Marie Gregg

Winnie is survived by her children, James C. Foley and wife Krista of Pacific Palisades, CA, Deborah Foley of San Diego, CA and Lisa Foley of San Diego, CA, step children Cathy Singletary and husband Ed of Rancho Marguerita, CA, Debby Jeter, Robert Gregg and Elizabeth Knapp and her husband Dennis of Carlsbad, CA; Grandchildren, Eric Baxter, Tyler and wife Sara Baxter, David and wife Danielle Foley, Kimberly Foley, Kyle and Megan Tracy, and step grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin and Rebecca Gregg, Justin Jeter, Gregg and Jeffrey Knapp; Great grandchildren, Paytin and Addison Baxter. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Gregg, Vista, CA, her brother, Ralph Schroeder, Lemon Grove, CA and parents, C. Fred and Lena Schroeder, Midway City, CA.

Winnie was born on March 8, 1928 in Garden Grove, CA to Christian Frederick and Lena Esther Schroeder. She graduated from Whittier College with a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance and Long Beach State University with a Masters in Music Education.

Winnie is remembered for her many years dedicated to music education and the enrichment of music and fine arts in the schools. She was a leader in music education in the Westminster School District, and was a dedicated member of California Music Educators Association (Secretary) and the Orange County Music Educators Music Association (President). She was recognized with the Irene Schoepfle Award for outstanding music education in Orange County, Certificate of Honor – Parks and Recreation – Westminster, Outstanding Contributor to Arts Education – Orange County Arts Alliance. She was instrumental in the development of the MAC and IDEAL programs in the Orange County schools. Upon retirement she continued to teach music theory at Pt. Loma Nazarene University and taught piano to many young children in the Vista, CA area.

A funeral is scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2014, 12:00 Noon at Westminster Memorial Park, 14801 Beach Blvd, Westminster, CA, 92683. A small reception will immediately follow the graveside service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Winnie’s life. In lieu of flowers,
