William “Bill” Leo Duffy, 74, passed away on May 16, 2017 surrounded by his family in Westminster, CA. He was born on November 21, 1942 in Pontiac, Illinois to Maurice and Ruth (McCarty) Duffy. He was 1 of 4 sons; Jerry (deceased), Pat, and Maury.
Bill attended college at Illinois State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1964. Post-college, Bill joined the US Navy and served 3 years where he was stationed in Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1967 and received a National Defense Service Medal. He later went on to earn his Master of Arts in Health and Safety Sciences from California State University, Los Angeles in 1974. Bill joined the United States Navy in 1964 and served for 3 years. He was stationed in Japan and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1967. In 1974, Bill began his career in the cold storage industry when he started with Pacific Cold Storage. He made lifelong friends in his field of work, eventually rising to the role of President of P&O Cold Storage before he retired in 2005 with almost 30 years of experience in the industry.
Bill married Judy Miller on May 12th, 1984 and they were happily married for 33 wonderful years. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, traveling the world and spending time with his beloved family and friends.
Bill is survived by his wife, Judy, his grandson, Ryan Marsh and family, his brothers, Pat & Maury Duffy and their families, Jack & Rita Schaefer, and extended family.
Visitation will be held at the chapel at Westminster Memorial Park from 5pm-8pm on Tuesday, May 23rd. The funeral service will be held at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary, 14801 Beach Blvd. Westminster, CA at 9:30AM on Wednesday, May 24th, 2017. Burial will follow at the Westminster Memorial Cemetery.
