Patrick Jean Gaffney was born on December 29, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN to James and Helen Gaffney. He was the youngest of three children, with brothers Thomas and James. He grew up in the Minneapolis area and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1956, where he was voted “Prettiest Hair” for his senior class.
He attended the University of Minnesota where he participated in ROTC and graduated with a degree in Business Education. Upon graduation he was commissioned by the Air Force as a Second lieutenant. He served for six years and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.
He worked for The Blue Cross as a training instructor when he joined civilian life. His accounting career began at the CPA firm of Stegall, Parke, and Guptill. Then he earned his CPA license after studying at California State University of Long Beach and a Certified Financial Planner certificate after completing the Financial Planning Program at USC.
He opened his own CPA firm, Patrick Gaffney, CPA in Bellflower, CA in 1976 and added CFP services before retiring in 1998. He was loved by all his employees, many who stayed with him until he retired.
Pat was married for 57 years to the love of his life, Suk, and was devoted to making her happy. He loved his family, friends, and the Minnesota Twins. Pat was a hard working, loyal, and generous person with a great sense of humor. He was known for his gentlemanly manners, and always opened doors and pulled out chairs for others.
A Celebration of Life for Pat will be held Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM in the Westminster Memorial Park Main Chapel. Arrangements under the direction of Westminster Memorial Park, 14801 Beach Blvd, Westminster, CA 92683. 714-893-2421
