Thuyvu Tran Pham
(October 13, 1973 - January 19, 2024)
A Buddhist Proverb says,
Yesterday is a memory,
Tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift,
Which is why it is called the present.
What the caterpillar perceives is the end,
To the butterfly is just the beginning.
Everything that has a beginning has an ending,
Make your peace with that and all will be well.
Thuyvu Tran Pham, affectionately known as Eric by his friends and as Bibi by his family, departed this life on January 19, 2024 in Anaheim, California. Eric meant more to his family, friends, and colleagues than he ever understood. The absence of Eric’s gentle spirit leaves an irreplaceable void in all our lives.
Eric married his “true love”, Suzanne. Eric's role as a stepfather to Drew, Michael, and Sean was one of his greatest joys. Eric is the youngest of six siblings and loved the unbreakable bond that he shared with his mother and siblings. He was a master bowler (bowling 3 perfect 300 games), an avid baseball card collector, loved cooking and trying new restaurants, loved traveling, loved going to swap meets, and just loved doing anything with Suzanne. They were essentially inseparables (other than when he bowled) because Eric and Suzanne also worked together for Providence Saint Joseph for over a decade.
Eric's mother, Dao Thi Tran and his 4 remaining siblings, Thuytran Nguyen (LyLy), Quynh-Thu Pham-Aguila (ThuThu), Cathy Pham Zotti (ThyThy), Thuykhue Pham aka Timmy (TiTi), remember him as the kindest, most gentle, and genuine person to everyone whose lives he touched. There are not enough words to convey how special he is to all of us. The quote, “A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others”, was written with Eric/Bibi in mind.
Eric has worked at Disneyland, Carl Karcher Enterprises, and various places in between, eventually ending at Providence Saint Joseph, with his “work” family being so incredible during our time of grief in providing words of comfort, offering support, and assisting in any capacity possible. This is how loved Eric was by all.
Predeceased by his father, Hung Van Pham and brother Thuylu Pham (Toto), Eric leaves a legacy of love, compassion and kindness. He is survived by his devoted wife Suzanne; his stepchildren, Drew, Michael, and Sean; his mother, Dao Thi Tran and his siblings, LyLy, ThuThu, Cathy, and Timmy, his nephews, Nolan, Alex, and Anthony, and his nieces, Mara, Emily, and Ashley.
