Mrs. Kelly Ann Hubert
June 25, 1936 - August 5, 2017
The family of Mrs. Kelly Ann Hubert sorrowfully announces the peaceful passing of their beautiful and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. Born June 25, 1936, she passed away with her family at her side on August 5, 2017. She was 81 years of age. Cherished daughter of Virginia Elizabeth Wells-Kelly and William Oscar Doles, and devoted wife of Dr. George H. Hubert. Kelly Ann leaves behind her children, Babette Ann Hubert, Todd George Hubert, married to Cheryl Joanne Hubert, and Kelly D’ Ann Zamora. Her youngest son, Kimm William, sadly died in a motorcycle accident while attending Pepperdine University in Malibu in 1986 when he was just 20 years old.
She was fondly referred to as “Nannaw” by her 5 grandchildren, Brielle Kimmberly, Brayden Todd, Dominic Kimm, Baylee Marie, Cameron Jose’, and one great-grandson Liam Jack. She was the oldest of four children. William Doles and Timothy Doles survive her. Her younger sister Rebecca Doles passed away in 2008.
As a young-woman, originally from Springfield, Missouri she attended Missouri Methodist Hospital, School of Nursing graduating in 1958. Her career as a Registered Nurse was short-lived due to meeting the man of her dreams, marrying him and starting a family. Kelly Ann was the backbone of her husband’s education and career, which took them to Alaska in 1964, returning in 1966 to Whittier, concluding her husband’s medical education. In 1968, they moved to Thousand Oaks where they continued raising their four children.
Kelly Ann was an active member of the Thousand Oaks Seventh Day Adventist Church as well as Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village. She loved to read God’s Word and shared her love of the Lord through teaching in Sabbath School and Bible Studies. Her strong faith anchored her husband and family, as well as her close friends. Her upbringing as a Seventh Day Adventist fueled her desire to live a healthy life through nutrition and exercise launching her career as an aerobic exercise instructor at Lovely Lady Figure Salon where she was known as “Killer Kelly”, and continued inspiring all that encountered her work. At the closing of Lovely Lady she opened her own exercise studio, Kelly’s Body A.R.T., at her home in Lynn Ranch, allowing her to continue to make a difference. In between her many activities she managed to walk in 27 marathons of which she “beat” her previous record each time. Her spiritual studies and health achievements made a timeless impression on many people, mainly her family.
One of Kelly Ann’s greatest God given-gifts was gardening. Everything she planted flourished under her caring hands. At one time, she had over 200 rose bushes. She enjoyed filling her vases and decorating her home with their lovely presence and richly scented fragrance. Her fruit trees were amongst her favorites of which she had many varieties. Almost every day one would find her in the garden planting and tending to it so her family could enjoy an incredible harvest of naturally grown love. She truly had a green thumb! And let us not forget her chickens. She adored her "girls" and their daily, nutritious gifts.
Mom was known for her incredible love and dedication to her family. She was involved in everything they did and enjoyed weekends away at their homes in Lake Arrowhead and Palm Desert. Later, she and George took up golfing sharing many memorable games with family and friends.
Her love was unconditional and she showed it in countless ways. One of the best was taking time to listen and encourage. She was never too busy to listen to her kids and grandkids, and always had a thoughtful word of advice. Whenever there were difficulties she would say, “Trust the Lord and He will show you the way. God has a special plan for your life”. She made sure they knew they could “do anything if you set your mind to it and worked hard”. Her children learned by her example, loving others no matter the situation.
In her life, she was known for wanting to show and give love to others. She had this incredible ability to make you feel important and valuable. She shared her time, her heart, and her many talents with everyone that crossed her path. She was a most generous soul to all.
