Jody Carol Mittel Throckmorton, 75, passed away on 7/1/22 at home after her battle with acute myeloid leukemia. She was born May 2, 1947 in Los Angeles, Ca, the daughter of Joseph Christian "J.C." and Lavern "Pat" (Cochron) Mittel.
Jody graduated from Taft High School, class of 1964. Following graduation, she married her first husband and had her 3 children. Jody began to work for Litton in 1978 and retired in 2013 after 35 years of service. She met and married her second husband, Richard Throckmorton in 1993. They celebrated 27 years of marriage in 2019. Jody was a regular attender of Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village, Ca. She was a dedicated member of the Theta Chi Epsilon philanthropic sorority from 1994-2022. After retiring, Jody made 61 quilts! She was also known for her oil painting, love of shopping, wine tasting, and gardening.
In addition to her parents, Jody was predeceased by her husband, Richard, brother, Chris Mittel, and grandson, Chad Aitken. Surviving her are her children, Heather Aitken, Moorpark, Ca, Matthew Dodson, Sugarland, Tx, & Lucas Dodson, Woodland Hills, Ca; stepchildren, Linda Schoen, Sparks, Nv, & Cheryl Throckmorton, Panorama, Ca; 14 grandkids, 4 great grandkids; siblings, Julie Mares, Eagle, Id, Cammie Hicks, Thousand Oaks, Ca, & John Mittel, Simi Valley, Ca; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial for a Celebration of Life will be held at 10 am on Friday 8/5/22 at Calvary Community Church, 5495 Via Rocas, Westlake Village. Those who wish to remember Jody in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Calvary Community Westlake.
