Cheryl Lynn Anderson, known to the many who knew and loved her as "Cher", "Coco", "Mom", "Mama", "Memo", "Gram", "Grammy" and "Sissy", passed away at Belmont Village in Thousand Oaks on May 5, 2024 at the age of 79 after a long and arduous ordeal with Alzheimer's disease.
She is survived by her husband, Bill and her children, Apryl, Aimee and William and her sons-in-law, Christopher and Michael. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Madeline, Samuel, Branden, Hayden, Jacob, Avery, Riley, Blake, Liam and Caleb.
Cher was born Cheryl Lynn Jons on April 23, 1945 in Battle Creek, Michigan; the daughter of Russell Sheldon Jones and Evelyn Amy Jones and sister to Michael, Dennis and Janine.
After graduating La Serna High School in Whittier, CA in 1964, Cher completed her medical assisting and x-ray technician courses and was employed in those capacities until 1972. She also completed courses at California Western University, Chaffey College, Mount San Antonio College, Rio Honda College and Moorpark College earning the equivalent of an Associate in Arts Degree.
Cher and Bill met in 1968 in Chino, California and they married in 1969. Early in their marriage, they lived in Whittier and Diamond Bar and then moved to Thousand Okas in 1976. Theirs was a rare 55-year love story during which they were blessed with a wonderful life filled with love, laughter, and hard work. Cher was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker which she always said was why she was put on this earth. She was always there with a helping hand, an understanding and forgiving heart, a quick wit and thoughtful word. She had a bottomless capacity to love all living things especially her family and cats, hummingbirds and her roses.
Cher will be missed every day and never forgotten by those who were blessed to have been loved and smiled upon by her. Surely, she left the world a better place.
