Charles Malloch Walder was born November 14th, 1925 in Long Beach California. Charles had two sisters Jane and Ellen, both of which he was very fond of. Charles adored his nieces and nephews, and was very warm towards his family. But most importantly, Charles leaves behind his wife Elizabeth Walder of 42 years. They were introduced by a mutual friend at an American Legion meeting, the sparks flew, and Charles had added a second passion to his life. Charles served in the Navy for 9 years as an engineer, and his service stretched to include participation in both WWII and the Korean wars. During the Korean war Charles served on a submarine for two full years. He then went on to work for the City of Los Angeles as an engineer designing street lights for 24 years until his retirement.
After retiring Charles and his wife Elizabeth were able to embark on countless adventures, visiting countries such as the Bahamas, England, Scotland, Switzerland and even some of our own states like Florida and Alaska.
He loved travel, mathematics, reading, baseball, and the morning crossword puzzle, but the voice among the throngs that stole his heart was the American Legion. He gave countless hours and held many different positons which he did with great enthusiasm. We will miss his huge heart and his beautiful smile. Charles was thought of as a loving father and grandpa to his family. We love you. His memorial service will be held on Sept. 4th at 11:00am at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks located at 5600 Lindero Canyon Rd., Westlake Village, CA.
Arrangements under the direction of Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary, Westlake Village, CA.
