SALLY A. PRICE, born on 5/29/1931 to Emma Myrtle Irwin (nee Pilgram) and Thomas Irwin Jr., a 1949 Bay High graduate, Sally passed away peacefully on January 13, 2016. Sally is survived by her son, Christopher Lynn Price, daughters Vicki Lee Price-Lubin and Jill Alane McLaughlin. She is the beloved Gramma to Kory McLaughlin (Brittany) Lee and Ryan McLaughlin, Alysa Cavano (Aaron), Shelby Beamer (Adam) and Drake Spence (Joe); devoted great-gramma to Colin, Dylan, Payton, Kennedy, Elora and Andrea; beloved aunt to Diane Betscher (Ron), Tom Dougherty (Nancy); many great and great-great-nieces and nephews; and fellow traveler, Florence "Flops" Dougherty. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Victor "Vic" Price Jr.; daughter Donna Carol Spence (David); sister Lois Dougherty; and granddaughter, Lindsey Spence. Sally was widowed in 1959 when her husband, Vic, was killed by a hit and skip driver. Because of her talent as an incredible artist, her remarkable teaching ability and her perseverance she was able to support herself and her 4 children. Sally and her Jr. Women's League started an art group called Baycrafters in 1955 and became its executive director in 1973. During her tenure as director, Baycrafters flourished as she overlooked classes, artists and countless indoor and outdoor art shows including The Juried Show, The Victorian Garden Party, Barefoot in the Park and the Renaissance Fayre. The Fayre went on for nearly 3 decades becoming a major family event in Cleveland. She was also the leading force in acquiring the Norfolk & Western Station house & caboose, as well as the Fuller House "the house that sailed Lake Erie" for its campus. "Irddie" received many awards during her lifetime including the Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award. Sally regularly attended Bay Villages City Council meetings, was on the Architectural Board of Review and was active in Bay Village Historical Society. The Osborn House would've of come under the wrecking ball and there would never been a learning center if it had not been for Sally. Sally, with Virginia Peterson, went on to write a book on Bay Village called "Images of America: Bay Village". Price is lauded as being a true Bay Village treasure. Sally also attended the Cleveland Institute of Art and Case Western Reserve University. Sally wasn't just special she was more than special to all that knew her because of her talent and her love for people. She leaves lasting impressions on us through her work that is as enduring to us as our memories. Friends of family are welcome to celebrate Sally's life on Saturday, Jan. 30 at "Behind the Woods" on Center Ridge Road in Rocky River 12 noon to 3 p.m. Family suggests memorial donations can be made to the Berea Animal Rescue Fund, 390 Barrett Road, Berea 44017.
