She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Thinschmidt, parents, Geraldine and Jesse Gallagher, and brother, John (Jack) Gallagher. She is survived by her children Mark (Mary Kay), Cheryl (Peter), Sandra (Maurice), and Erin along with five grandchildren and one great grandson.
Pat met her husband Bob when they were both working at Kroger grocery store. They married and raised their children and two collies in Bay Village where Pat actively volunteered at church and at the public schools. She gave of herself literally; she routinely donated blood at Red Cross and proudly shared her five-gallon donation pin.
Pat is known for her love of all holidays which originated in the family’s home on Clague Road with scary and fantastic Halloween decorations before others thought to decorate for that holiday. Her passion later was evidenced by very large wreaths on her condominium door for every season and holiday; bedding, towels, and dishes for most seasons; and most obviously, clothing that boldly declared Pat’s love for the holiday. She loved spending time crafting and baking for her family and friends, and her pumpkin bread will be missed by all. Pat rarely met a stranger and in her earlier years, enjoyed shopping and talking to people as she waited in line, sat in a restaurant, or rode on an elevator.
Her greatest passion was her family; she loved nothing more than spending time with them and always wanted everyone in attendance. Her passions for family and holidays collided during the Christmas season, with Pat beaming as she distributed gifts for one and all, never forgetting family pets.
We are so grateful for her neighbors for helping to care for her during these last few years and for her dear friend, Ann, who ferried Pat to medical appointments in addition to acting as her confidante.
Her funeral service will be held on December 28 at 12:00 pm at Resthaven Memory Garden Cemetery. In remembrance of Pat, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Cleveland Christian Home, where Pat previously worked as an administrative assistant.
