Mr. Manuel was born July 30, 1923 in Chataignier, LA to Hosea and Avy Manuel. He was a Veteran of WWII; he lived in Westlake, LA for many years and was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of Council #5755 Knights of Columbus in Westlake; served 2 terms as Grand Knight, past active leader “Last Day” professor in the Cursillo movement he made his Cursillo in 1988. Mr. Manuel worked for Hixson Funeral Home and Highland/Prien Cemetery helping families with pre-arranged funerals.He retired from USDA and Highland Cemetery properties after 30 years of service. He was also a member of American Legion Post 370. Linward always worked to help people have a better life. He always loved his family and friends and wanted to be remembered as someone who was good to everyone.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife; Melda Andrus Manuel and one grandson; Steven A. Manuel.
Those left to cherish is his memories are two sons; Paul L. Manuel and wife Elizabeth of Lafayette, La and Patrick E. Manuel and wife Sue of Ragley, LA, one daughter; Rita Manuel of Westlake, LA, and four grandchildren; Christopher L. Manuel, Renee E. Manuel, Rachel B. Manuel and Valerie L. Manuel.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 15, 2015 at Hixson Funeral Home in Westlake, LA from 4:00pm-9:00pm with a Cursillo Rosary at 6:00pm and will resume on Monday from 8:00am until time of service. Funeral Service will be Monday, August 17, 2015 10:00am at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Westlake, LA. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Lake Charles, LA.
