after a year-long battle with lung cancer.
Kathleen was born on June 25, 1952, to Frances Carolyn Appleby Young and Harold Hill Young in Westlake, Louisiana.
Kathleen was predeceased by her parents Harold & Carolyn and older brother, Mitchell. She is survived by siblings Karen and Lewis. Kathleen is also survived by her nephews Andrew Pruitt, David Pruitt, and niece Elisabeth Pruitt as well as many beloved cousins.
Kathleen was a spirited child which she carried into her late adulthood. After graduating from Westlake High School in 1970, she went on to earn two Associate degrees as well as a Bachelor’s degree in secretarial sciences from McNeese State University. Her first job was working for her father, which afforded her some opportunities to travel. She was a career secretary working for McNeese State University and then finished out her working years as a short-order cook at Waffle House, McNeese State University and a BBQ restaurant in Westlake, LA. After retirement, Kathleen spent her time knitting and reading.
Kathleen served as Grand Religion as a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. As an adult, she continued to work with the Order, serving as Mother Advisor of Westlake Assembly. Kathleen was a long-time member of Westlake #228, Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron as well as many other stations.
The family will welcome the public for visitation at Bellview Baptist Church in Westlake, Louisiana on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, from 5 pm until time of memorial services at 6 pm. There will be an Eastern Star service at 5:45 pm.
