Dorothy Marie Harvey Benoit was born in Kinder, Louisiana on July 25, 1925 to Charles E. and Zella Mae Bolles Harvey. She went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2015 at the age of 89. She was the fifth child of nine children.
She moved to Westlake where she married Alvin (Bo) Benoit on December 1, 1943. Dot was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked for Dr. John K. Griffith for 21 years. She loved being a nurse. She was compassionate and fully lived out her spiritual gift of mercy. She also had a gift of hospitality and everyone who entered her home got a hug. She was a sweet lady who was loved by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Woodrow Harvey, Gerald Harvey, Calvin Harvey, Gordon Harvey and George Harvey; sisters, Ruth Finch, Martha Currie and Carolyn Rabe.
She is survived by her son, Charles Benoit and wife Candy of Garland, Texas. Daughter, Alvinette Crager and husband Doyle of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Four grandchildren, Angie Corkran and husband Shawn of Mandeville, Louisiana; Chris Benoit and wife Alissa of Wylie, Texas; Becky Blalock and husband Ray of Coppell, Texas; and Cindy Higgins and husband Mike of Kingwood, Texas. Six great grandchildren, Maddie, Christian and Evan Corkran, Bailey Benoit and Gavin and William Higgins.
Visitation will be Friday, April 24, 2015 at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake from 4pm to 8pm and will resume Saturday from noon until service time. Her Funeral will be Saturday at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake at 2pm. Rev. Lonnie Gothrop will officiate. Burial will be at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery in Lake Charles.
