Mr. Richard Raymond Ramsay

Dick is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lora, his son Rip, daughter Catherine, son-in-law John, eight grand children and seven great grandchildren.

Dick was born in Hawaii on the Island of Oahu on July 29,1918 where he was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Honolulu. During World War II he served with the 248th Combat Engineers in both the Pacific and European theatres, marrying Lora just before departing for Europe and participation in the D-Day invasion. After the war and qualifying in Aircraft Mechanics at Cal-Aero he worked at United Air Lines for 28 years. In 1980 he and Lora moved to West Vancouver to be with family and at then at age 62 he started a new career with his son-in-law's company, North American Land Corporation in Vancouver, enjoying a further eleven years of fixing things.

At 73 when he finally retired he spent many happy hours golfing with his buddies. At the fine age of 91 he even walked eighteen holes.

Dick was a friend to all, always seeing the best in people and while the last two years were an ever increasing struggle he never complained. He was a true example of "The Greatest Generation".

There will be a celebration of Dick's life to be held at St Francis-in-the-Wood Anglican Church, in West Vancouver, at 2pm Sunday, April 21st.
