1921 - 2013
Max, having made it to another birthday and New Year, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family. Max enjoyed life with a passion, including reading and traveling to historical places around the world to satisfy his voracious thirst for knowledge, sailing at the Hollyburn Sailing Club, volunteering with the West Van Minor Hockey Assoc, hiking with the West Van Senior Hikers, painting, playing bridge, and hanging out with the guys at the West Van Senior Center. Life's challenges such as conscription into war, being a long term prisoner of war, having to flee his home before the construction of the iron curtain, the loss of his first wife Ruth and a debilitating heart attack and stroke, focused Max's passion for taking life on!
Max is survived by his loving wife Trudi, children Ingo, Clark (Barbara), Kirk (Suzanne), grandchildren Nicolas (Rebecca), Sasha, Jason, Matthew, Chris (Fumie), Eric, Brodie, Ellie, and great-grandchildren Damian, William, Lily. Max was deeply dedicated to the ongoing prosperity of his family, lives on in our hearts and is watching over us with a grin and a question ... so what are you going to do next with your lives?
