Karen Darlene Smith

May 27,1936 to Aug 23,2011 It is with deepest regrets that we announce the passing of our mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. Karen peacefully succumbed to her battle with cancer surrounded by family and friends. The eldest of six children, Karen was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. After obtaining her nursing degree she moved to the West Coast, working at Lions Gate Hospital until her retirement in 2001. A beautiful and skilled seamstress, avid gardener, gracious hostess and singer, Karen will be remembered by all for her warm generosity and love of celebrations.

Predeceased by husband Donald Cameron Smith, father Colin Campbell, and brothers Bruce and Gordie. Survived by her Mom Stella Campbell, siblings Lloyd, Ken and Carolyn. Children: Heather (Glen), Shari (Tony), Greg ( Joyce) Gogie Bridget) and Trevor. Grandkids: Cameron, Matt, Lauren, Stuart, Chantal, Michelle, Jessica, Julia, Ben, Kira, Kaden, Anika, Ben and Zoe.. As well as many international students who thought of her Mom over the years.

Celebration of Karen's life to be held at Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807 Marine Drive West Vancouver, BC

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011 at 2 pm.

Karen always believed that Don would be waiting for her on the other side and we hope they are now dancing together again.
