Long time resident of West Vancouver, formerly of Tarbolton District and Bradwardine, Manitoba in her 93rd year. Passed away on Friday, July 14, 2012 carried on the wings of a white butterfly to her Lords garden.
Predeceased by her parents, Jean and Andrew Scott. Survived by cousins and friends at Capilano Park where she spent her happiest years in later life.
As a young woman Eileen loved to draw, Graduating from the Vancouver School of Art and studied photography winning prizes for her work. She was an avid horsewoman and prided herself as the first person to ride a horse over the Lionsgate Bridge. Her first job was Private Secretary to the Manager/Surveyor of the British Properties Lands for the Guinness Family who also oversaw Park Royal Shopping center when it was only located on the North side of Marine Drive; just a handful of shops and anchored by Woodwards. Later worked at the West Vancouver Municipal Hall until she retired at 44. She wrote and illustrated a published book on her early years growing up on the family farm in Bradwardine, Manitoba called Porridge and Old Clothes.
Eileen will always be watching over her very close friends and confidants Sandy and Jim Mutrie of Kelvin Grove, Lions Bay and Peter and Helen Black of Park Royal Shopping Center where she happily gave of her time as their girl Friday and surrogate Mother and Grandmother to the family businesses.
We would like to thank Dr. Leon Bard for his kindness and skill in giving Eileen those extra precious years and giving her much joy by reading the many jokes she left at each visit. Also, unwavering appreciation to the North Shore Hospice family of nurses and staff who gave tender loving care in her last days.
No flowers by request. Cremation. A memorial tea will be announced at a later date. For those wishing to share a memory of Eileen, please go to www.hollyburnfunerals.com
