August 16, 1940 - November 14, 2017
Barbara lit up every room she entered. Born in Montreal to Alfred and Annie Mansfield, she was an honour student and award- winning athlete. She was invited to train with the Montreal track team for the Olympics, but instead proudly chose to train as an RN at Montreal General Hospital. During training, she met her beloved husband, Jack. Barb worked as a school nurse before moving to North Vancouver in 1968 where she continued her career at various doctors' offices. Barb loved her two children, Lynn and Vern, and their spouses Mike and Leanne. Her much-loved grandchildren Kaitlyn and Kyle brought her endless joy. Barbara lived for her family and valued her many friendships. She loved children, music, singing in the choir, dancing, Neil Diamond, warm sunny days, her roses, and chocolate. She was known for her sense of style and being the life of the party. She never let her battles with ill health define her, facing them head-on with courage, positivity, and a determined spirit. Barb, our beloved Wife, Mom and Nana, you will be forever loved and missed. A Celebration of Life will take place Tuesday, December 5 at 2 p.m. at St. Clement's Anglican Church, 3400 Institute Road, North Vancouver. Flowers gratefully declined, but those of you who wish to may make a donation in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
