I remember Barbara as a lively, elegant, and proud mother of Vern, and the most lucky woman having always Jack by her side caring for her in good and not so good days. Our deepest condolences to Jack, Vern and Leanne, Lynn and Mike. The memories I have of Barbara have one common thread - she was always smiling and laughing. It was clear she took great delight in her family, friends, and life in general. May your cherished memories of her ease your sorrows, and give you comfort at this time.

Deep sympathy to Jack and the family, Barb was such an inspiration, and I loved hearing her sing in the church choir,  she contributed much in her lifetime and her loss is felt.

My deepest sympathies to you Uncle Jack, Vern, Leanne, Lynn, Mike, Katie, and Kyle. Vern sent me a picture today of Aunt Barbara holding Nolan when he was only a few months old. Nolan is smiling in the picture and this is very telling as at that age he had very bad reflux and rarely smiled. I will cherish my wonderful memories of Aunt Barbara and will miss her greatly.

Barbara was a wonderful,loving sister-in-law. Whenever we visited Jack and Barbara in Vancouver we were always treated royally. 
Barbara was a great cook and could bake so many delicious treats, Barbara had a great sense of humour and loved to tease Jack.She was so proud of her family and all their accomplishments

Auntie Barb's kindness and smile are forever etched in our hearts.  No matter what challenges she was facing, she never missed sending a birthday or anniversary card with a message of love. From the moment I met her I felt like I was part of the family. We will miss her.  She was such a strong woman, and met each obstacle with her health head on. Although this is such a hard time for family, we hope the memories of love and laughter help ease your sorrow.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Uncle Jack, Lynn and Mike and family and Vern and Leanne.  

Barbara Griffiths (Mansfield) lit up every room she entered.  She was joyful, loving, positive, determined, strong, proud, supportive, and always quick to flash that big smile.

Growing up, she was a star athlete who was invited to join a track team to train for the Olympics.  She has a remarkable trophy collection, including having won the top track and field award every year in high school, and at graduation even won the top athlete award for her whole school -- and think about it... back in 1957, how many female athletes were ever beating out all the boys for an award like that??  

Instead of pursuing athletics further, she went into nursing, a career of which she was very proud.  She was an RN, trained in Montreal where she grew up, and especially loved working with kids both at Montreal Children's and as a school nurse.  Later she worked at various doctors' offices in North Vancouver.  

Right after nursing training, she married her beloved Jack.  Their marriage of almost 57 years was full of love and support and fun and everything she could have wished for.  Their daughter Lynn came along, and then they moved from Montreal to North Vancouver.  Soon after I came along.  Barbara was such an amazing mom to us both, and we were so very lucky to have her.  She also adored and was adored by her son-in-law Mike and daughter-in-law Leanne.  And then one of the immense joys in her life was her two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kyle.

She was a member of the St. Clement's Church choir for many years, and she always loved singing.  She and Jack were also long-time subscribers to the VSO, and they enjoyed so much getting to watch me play.  I would always tell my section before a concert Ok, it's for real tonight: my parents are here.

She battled diabetes and cancer and so many other ailments with grit and grace, and never let her health problems define who she was.  Various doctors said she had nine lives, but I think she just had toughness -- like the athlete she was.  

Instead of ill health, I choose to remember her sprinting down the sand dunes in Oregon, being a chaperone on the Youth Band trip to Germany, going to Scotland with her mom, loving Hawaii and dreaming of going back, family car vacations with mom rationing how much water we were allowed, being Nana to Kaitie and Kyle, singing and dancing along with Neil Diamond, having so many wonderful friends, being the life of the party, and just being my mom.  

She will always be loved by Jack, Lynn and Mike, Vern and Leanne, Kaitlyn and Kyle, and everyone who knew and loved her.
