On April 2nd Gene peacefully snuck out to hit a round of golf in Heaven. With humor until the end, Gene lived his life with integrity and service to others. Family always came first in Gene’s life, and he spent countless hours working for the betterment of his family. He showed his love through hard work, and by sacrificing his own time for others. Gene had many passions including cooking, golf, and watching the Utah Jazz, just to name a few.
Born in Salt Lake City on October 7,1950 to Ronald Hugh and Louie Ruth Page Fisher, Gene attended Skyline High School where he met the love of his life and wife of more than 50 years, Vicky Worthen. Shortly after high school, Gene enlisted in the Air Force Reserves and served his country honorably.
Gene was an artist with many impressive works, even his signature was an art piece. He was a master with his hands, applying that talent and skill in building and running his own drywall and acoustical construction company. His integrity shined in his work and his business dealings. The impact he made on the industry wasn’t only in the portfolio of projects, but more so in the lives he touched and the relationships he made.
Gene was a member of the LDS church where he mentored and changed many lives for good through his nearly 3 decades long service as a Scoutmaster for troop 530 and other positions in the Scouting Program. He passed his values of hard work, ethics, and positivity through example.
Gene loved fiercely, yet quietly. He showed his love through service to others, even beyond his scouting. When someone was in need, Gene was there with no invitation needed. He was creative and could problem solve almost any situation.
Gene is loved by all who knew him. He will live on through those whose lives he touched.
Gene is survived by his wife, Vicky, his mother, Lou, his sister Ronda Olsen (Brent deceased), his sister-in-law Brooke Fisher (Carl deceased), brother Bruce (Sherrie), his sons Trent (Jennifer), and Tyler (Jeffrey), his grandchildren, Noah, Ethan, and Auden, and his puppy Kenzie, who drove him crazy but always brought a smile to his face.
Many thanks to CNS Hospice whose compassion and expertise helped us through this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be held for close friends and family on Saturday, April 9th from 1 - 3 PM at the Salt Lake Jordan 4th Meetinghouse 3676 West 4700 South, West Valley City, Utah
