Our mom, Rella Mae Swanson Sherrill, peacefully passed away January 30, 2022 at the beautiful age of 86, surrounded by the love of her children. She was the youngest child of Buford and Martha Swanson. Mom was born a country girl in Hyrum, Utah on December 26, 1935. She was given the name Rella after her Aunt Cinderella.
After graduating from South Cache High School, she moved to Salt Lake to work as an operator for the phone company. It wasn’t long that she met her Prince Charming, Samuel Sherrill. They were married November 2, 1956. Later solemnized in the Logan Temple.
Our angel mom woke up every morning choosing to be happy. She was energetic, generous, faithful, beautiful and one classy lady. She modeled a life well-lived and will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. She especially loved her role as grandma and great grandma. Each one thought that they were her favorite. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her feel special and loved. Mom was the life of the party. She walked into a room and it immediately would light up. Later in life mom served a church service mission downtown at the Beehive House and the Conference Center. It was definitely one the highlights of her life.
Mom is survived by her four children: Tami (Wes) Bayles, Lori (Brett) Lyman, Jodi (Randy) Howard and David (Rachel) Sherrill. She was adored by her 12 grandchildren: Wes, Russ, Rob, Kurt, Ryan, Corey, Michelle, Brad, Casey, Kylee, Clayton and Sam; with 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by loving husband, Sam; her parents, Sisters, Chloe and Lois and her brother, Junior.
