Norma Collings

1922-2013

Norma Wilkins Collings, passed away March 15, 2013 at her home in West Valley City, Utah surrounded by her loving family. She was 91. Norma was born on January 4, 1922 to Francis Albert Wilkins and Edith Wadman in Hunter Utah. (now West Valley City) She attended Cyprus High School in Magna, Utah. She married Daniel J. Collings on September 26, 1938 at the home of her parents. Their marriage was solemnized in 1965 at the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The couple lived in Garfield and Magna. The past 42 years they made their home in West Valley City. Norma loved her family, golfing, craft works and her passion of sewing. She worked for JC Penny doing alterations for over 35 years. She was head of alterations at JC Penny store at the Valley Fair Mall for 15 years. Over the years she made many wedding dresses and brides maids dresses, she also made the uniforms for the Cyprus High School Pep Club and the Cottonwood

High School Drill Team. She loved her service to the LDS church and served in the Primary, Young Women’s Mutual Improvement Association and Relief Society in the Pleasant Green 2nd Ward in the Oquirrh Stake in Magna and also in the Sunday School and Relief Society in the Jordan North 2nd Ward in the Jordan North Stake. Norma and her husband Dan served as temple workers at the Jordan River Temple for 19 years. She is preceded in death by her husband Daniel J. Collings. She is survived by her children: Brent (Sally) Collings of Magna, Kit (Dixie) Collings, Dana Anderson (Seth) of West Valley City and Wade Collings of Chula Vista, CA, seven Grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 19, at 12:00pm in the Jordan North 2nd Ward Chapel located at 4270 So. Falcon St. (4155 West), West Valley City. Her friends may call on Monday evening from 6 to 8pm at the Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W. 4100 So., West Valley City, and at the Jordan North 2nd Ward Chapel from 10:30 to 11:30am on Tuesday.
