February 14, 1928 ~ October 23, 2019
Max Terry Mower age 91, passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2019. He was born on February 14, 1928 in Fairview, Utah to Francis Marion Mower and Martha Terry. He was raised on a farm with 7 brothers and sisters where he had many farm boy adventures. He served in the United States Army and received the World War II Victory Medal.
He moved to Salt Lake and began working for Kennecott Copper Company where he was employed for 36 years. He married Nancy Lee Clifford on March 11, 1960. They made their home in West Valley City. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles where he earned the status of Golden Eagle.
Max will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, camping and travel. One of his most cherished travel adventures was a 7 week road trip in their motor home through Alaska. He was strong and hardworking and insisted on doing his own yard work until he turned 91. He enjoyed his yard and vegetable garden. In his later years, he loved filling his birdfeeders and watching the quail in the yard. He always made it a point to celebrate and attend all family events showing up with a smile and lots of good natured teasing. He was always up for a party or adventure and had many stories of both.
Max is survived by his wife, Nancy, his children: Sandy (Ron) Schmitt and Scott Mower, and his grandchildren: Lauren (Alex) Haupt and Emily Schmitt.
A visitation will be Monday, October 28, 2019 from 1:30-2:00 pm at Valley View Funeral Home, 4100 South 4335 West, West Valley City, Utah. Graveside services will immediately follow the visitation at Valley View Memorial Park.
