Martha de la Cruz Armstrong, age 73, passed away February 13, 2022 at home in West Valley City, Utah. She was born February 3, 1949 in Colonia Dublán, Chihuahua, México to José de la Cruz de Lara and Antonia Ramírez Córdova. She married Stuart Alan Armstrong on September 27, 1985 in the Jordan River Temple in South Jordan, Utah. Martha was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She held many callings in her lifetime including: Relief Society, Young Women, Mutual, Primary and Seminary. She worked at the Temple and submitted hundreds of family names for ordinances. She collected much of her family’s genealogy, building on the work done in the temple of her father and others. Her parents were both faithful members who taught her high standards of faith and dedication. She loved children and had a way with them.
Martha is survived by her loving husband, Stuart Alan Armstrong; siblings: Ada de la Cruz, Marcial de la Cruz, Emma de la Cruz Taylor, Elena de la Cruz Lowe, Elías de la Cruz, Estela de la Cruz Kennard, Elvira de la Cruz Vizcaino, Sandra de la Cruz McCurdy and Sonia de la Cruz Gregory. She was preceded in death by her parents, José de la Cruz de Lara and Antonia Ramírez Córdova; grandparents: Marcial de la Cruz Puentes and María Longina de Lara Rodriguez, Juan Ramírez Herrera, and Josefa Córdova Valadez.
In her honor, a viewing will be Friday, February 18, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley, Utah and again one hour prior to the services at the church. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 19, 2022, 11:00 am at the Hunter West 8th Ward, 2811 South 6400 West, West Valley City. The interment to follow the services at Valley View Memorial Park.
