Joyce Kay Lay Pease, a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, passed away peacefully on October 11 at the age of 80. Born on February 16th 1944, Joyce exemplified the principles of faith, love, and service throughout her life.
Joyce was sealed to her high school sweet heart Marvin Donald Pease on Jun 15th 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple, with whom she shared a loving partnership until his passing. Joyce was preceded in death by her daughter Charla Kay Pease, her Husband Marvin Donald Pease, her parents Evelyn Munson, and Olaf Kim Lay.
Joyce is survived by her beloved children: Jana (Howard) Johnson, Michelle (Bruce) Williams, Kathy (John) Lowe, James (Carey) Pease, Marlene (Shad) Roundy, Jolene (Travis) Mulford, Jonny (Lauryn) Pease, Kevin Pease, and Jessica (Jordan) Hill. She was a proud grandmother to 33 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 19 great-grandchildren, Brothers and Sisters, Dan Lay, Marilyn (Kent) Griffin, Barbra (Dennis) Lucero, Lind (Ken) Jackson, Carolyn Cunningham, Ava (Keith) Crookston, Ruth (Anthony) Wakefield, Bill (DeAnn) Lay. Her family was her greatest joy, and she instilled in them the values of service, kindness, and the importance of family bonds. Her legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire generations to come.
A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Joyce was known for her unwavering testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and her willingness to serve others. She had been a member of the Jordan North 2nd ward for 55 years and faithfully serving as the Young Women’s President, Primary Chorister, Visiting Teaching Coordinator and many other callings. She loved serving her Heavenly Father while serving in her ward. Her family appreciates the love and support they always gave her. She found joy in all kinds of crafting activities, including sewing and flower arranging. She loved to garden and was proud of her flowers. Her warm smile and kind heart touched the lives of many, and she will be remembered for her ability to uplift and encourage.
A memorial service will be held on October 15th at 11:00 at Jordan North 2nd ward house, 4270 South Falcon Street (4145 W), where family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate her life. The family will receive friends Monday October 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.
Joyce Kay Lay Pease will be deeply missed but will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends, as well as in the eternal embrace of her Savior.
