Joshua Tyler Hancey

Joshua Tyler Hancey, age 11 ½, was born on September 30, 2009 in Murray, Utah to Tyler & Robyn Hancey and passed on July 21, 2021 in American Fork, Utah. He was in the care of Mary and William Tonata for 7 years.

Joshua was a bright, loving, and happy boy. He loved kisses on his forehead and loved being held. His favorite things to play with were balloons, the wheels on trucks and bounce balls. Josh loved to splash in the pool, jump on the trampoline by himself and catch snowflakes in his mouth. Josh loved to eat hot Cheeto’s and French fries from McDonald’s only. He was always super picky about where we got his fries from. When Josh got excited, he would dance, sing (yell) and spin on his tippy toes.

He is survived by his biological parents Tyler & Robyn Hancey; grandparents: Ken and Kathy Hancey and his foster parents William & Mary Tonata; siblings Mariah & Tiffany Hancey and foster siblings Johnny Tonata, Finau Likio, Manaloa Tonata & Skyler Tonata; uncle Dustin & Aunt Simone, Uncle Paul & Aunt Melissa and his foster aunties and uncles Gustav Lavaka, Larry Lavaka, Pulotu & Danielle Lavaka, Rosela & Ed Vehekite, Stephanie & Dave Finau, Sela & Sione Vailahi, Tapukitea & Moemoe Fonoti, Gustav Hoeft & Rodney Hoeft and all of his cousins on the Lavaka and Tonata side.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Karon Soderberg and his maternal foster grandparents Fapuiaki & Tevita Lavaka, Kolonitina Lavaka, Nene Lavaka, Folaua Fisiiahi, Mosese Davidson, Angel Fonoti & paternal foster grandparents Finau & Sione Tonata & Hudson Tonata.

A public viewing for Joshua will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at LDS Ward House, 12459 South Dansie Way, Riverton, UT 84065. A funeral service will occur Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 12:00 PM, 12459 S Dansie Way, Riverton, Utah. A graveside will occur Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Valley View Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah 84120.
