He was born November 18, 1937, in Pocatello, Idaho to Gilbert and Ruth Bringhurst. He was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple to his beautiful wife Pat, for time and all eternity on February 13, 1961.
He joined the United States Marine Corps when he turned 18. He served our great country and was able to visit many places. A fellow marine introduced him to his little sister Pat, who then became his loving wife of 56 years.
Jon thought education was important and he diligently continued his schooling at nights to earn his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Utah.
He worked as a cab driver and for S&H Green Stamps and then built his career as a cost analyst at Hercules for 33 years and was able to retire early in 1994.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all his life. He served in many ward and stake callings. He served a church mission with his wife at the Murray Cannery.
Jon had many talents and hobbies that were of great benefit to his family and neighbors. He did a lot of woodworking including making a children’s kitchen set that his children and grandchildren played with and enjoyed for many years. He loved to read and turned a room in the house into a library. He baked and made the best donuts and cobblers and would even bake a chocolate cake every year for his wife’s birthday. He took piano lessons with his kids for a few years. He was an excellent gardener and helped others in the neighborhood with theirs. He was multi-talented and tried to improve our home and yard by learning new trades and teaching them to his children.
His work ethic was second to none and he taught his children to work hard and to do a job well and involved them in all his projects. He then continued to help them in their own homes.
Jon is survived by his children Kamn (Jeff), Konne (Owen), Shane (Shalisa), Heath, Kourtne, Brandon (Rachel), Jared (Jami), Kristi (Brian), 31 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Monte, Marie, Sue, JoAnn, Lyn, and Mike.
He was preceded in death by his wife Pat, his mother and father, and his brothers, Gene, Larry, and Lee.
He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. We were blessed and strengthened by being able to help care for and spend time with him these last many years. We will really miss him and his sense of humor and wisdom.
We are thankful to know that he is back with his loving wife. We are grateful for eternal families and the knowledge that we will see them again. We love you!
