Jeremy Scott Coward rode off into this next life on June 25th, 2024. Born on November 20th 2003 in Jacksonville, FL to his parents Rebecca Coward (Carmichael) and Calvin Coward Jr. Living in Florida Jeremy learned to love life to its fullest. Sunshine, water, nature, and animals were all Jeremy’s favorite things (besides his love of riding and family). Jeremy was deeply devoted to his dog Timber, and to any animal that happen to cross his path that needed attention.
Jeremy and his family moved to Magna, UT. Here he spent time growing up with his close-knit family, and was especially close to his mother, and sisters. He learned to love sports, especially soccer. For a time, Jeremy stayed with his family living in Carbon County, UT. He played football, and wrestled and was especially good at wrestling, which he enjoyed. Jeremy made a lot of close friends while in Carbon County, and made a huge impact on those lives he touched while living there. Many friendships of which he kept, long after he had returned to Magna to continue to grow. Jeremy graduated from East Hollywood High in West Valley Utah in 2022, and had aspirations of becoming a pilot in the armed forces. Jeremy loved his country, and fell in love with the freedom of riding.
Jeremy had an infectious personality. As his sister once said, “Jeremy could get a rock to love him.” He loved to make others laugh and feel good about themselves, even if that meant him acting like a clown, and people laughing at him. Eternally selfless, Jeremy would help anyone with anything. He was known to be “that guy” who stopped on the side of the road to help stranded people, and to be the first to volunteer if someone needed help. Equally known about Jeremy was his stubbornness. Once he had his mind set on something, there was few things that could change it. Though Jeremy had his faults, he was always willing to ask forgiveness for those faults, and was always ready to forgive others for theirs.
Jeremy was deeply devoted as a son, uncle, brother, nephew, and cousin. Though Jeremy had no children of his own, his nieces and nephews were his children in his eyes. He loved to spend time with them, make them laugh, and give them a hard time. Jeremy cared very much for his mom, and all of his sisters. It was never easy to be raised with having 6 sisters, but Jeremy handled it with fun, grace, and mischievousness.
Jeremy is survived by his mother Rebecca Coward (Magna), his sisters: Brandy Buffington (Magna), Aurora Dall (Taylorsville), Felicity Jackson (Jacksonville, FL) Jessica Deschamps (Kearns), Megan Brooks (Magna), his grandmother Marion Coward (Jacksonville, FL), his grandfather Dennis Carmichael (Magna), many aunts, uncles, cousins, and 11 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Calvin Coward Jr., his sister Amanda Coward, his niece Amanda Brooks, and his grandparents Calvin Coward Sr. and Linda Carmichael.
Jeremy tragically passed away as a result of a motorcycle accident while riding on 12300 South in Draper. The family ask that all those reading this obituary please take the time to watch for motorcycle riders and pedestrians. It only takes one extra second to look, and you could save a life. Jeremy was an organ donor, and the family is honored to know that so many others lives will be possible to continue, through the sacrifice that he has made. We are eternally grateful to him.
The family would like to thank all those who helped donate to his funeral costs. Through your generosity, Jeremy was able to receive the memorial service he so well deserved. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the Intermountain Medical Center Intensive Trauma Unit Staff for all of their great care, and compassion for Jeremy and his family during this tough time. The family would like to give a special thanks to his Biker Family. Your kindness, generosity, love and compassion towards Jeremy and the family will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the “This is the Place Heritage Park- Outside the Pink Farm House” on July 12th from 5pm – 7pm, 2601 E Sunnyside Avenue, SLC, UT 84108.
