Jack Norman Garritson, a lifelong resident of Utah, passed away in Salt Lake City on July 7, 2021, at the age of 87. Jack was born October 15, 1933, to John and Paula Garritson. Jack was educated at South High School and was later drafted in the United States Army serving in the Korean War.
Jack married Cleon West in 1955 and they had four children: Paula, Norman, Dianna, and Richard.
Jack later married Maxine Wardle in 2011 who was there to comfort him at the time of his death.
Jack is survived by his wife Maxine, children Paula (Corey) Pederson, Dianna (Bob) Poulton, and Richard (Diane) Garritson, stepsons Dennis Wardle and Dave Romero, seven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents John and Paula Garritson, siblings Don Garritson, Violet Atkins, and Jeane Brown, first wife Cleon Garritson, and son Norman Garritson.
Jack enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and gardening, especially his tomatoes. He was very fond of cars and enjoyed his 1972 Cadillac. He was an active member of the American Legion, taking great satisfaction in ensuring veterans are honored by placing flags at their grave sites on every Memorial Day. Jack took great pride in his occupation as a hydraulic mechanic with heavy construction and mining equipment at Rocky Mountain Machinery, where he worked most of his career.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday July 12, 2021, and the viewing will be at 10:00 am. Located at Valley View Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah 84120.
