Hellen was born in Douglas, Wyoming on September 6, 1942 to George Wesley and Esther M. Sturgeon. She attended High School in Meeker, Colorado.
She married Glenn L. Erlewine on September 21, 1955 after which they made their home in Casper, Wyoming. They had three daughters: Esther Helen, Iris Marie and Brenda Lee. Glenn and Hellen later divorced in 1965.
Hellen had many interests and loved people. She worked in a children’s home in Casper, Wyoming. She also owned & managed the Red Rooster Bar & Grill in Dinosaur, Colorado. She later opened the White Hen Bar & Café in Dinosaur, Colorado.
At the time of her death, she was the owner and operator of the Bobcat Inn Bed and Breakfast (formerly known as the Chicken Coop) in Baggs, Wyoming.
Preceded in death by her father, George Wesley Sturgeon (1994) and her brother David Sturgeon (1985).
Hellen is survived by her children: Esther (Russell) Peterson, Iris Kegley, and Brenda Erlewine; grandchildren Christina (Gary) Merrill, John Wesley (Mari) Peterson, Megan (Joshua) Farnsworth, Mathew (Breann) Snow and Jana (Robert) Robertson. Hellen is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
