Grandpa and I had a special relationship. My sweet daughter who struggles daily with mental illnesses, regrets not having shown a kinder appreciation for this great man!  We love and miss you so much! THANK YOU for taking grandma in, when no one else would. My mom talks about you almost everyday and the generosity you showed grandma, my mom and uncle Tom. I love you

I spent some time with Uncle Gene in his den watching basketball and remember him fondly. May he live on in the memory of loved ones.

So sad to see the news of Gene's passing. I have many fond memories as a child at Aunt Nona's & Uncle Ike's. Gene and my Dad Arlen cousins probably had some great times together in their younger years. My connection with Gene and family holds a special place in my heart.

When I was in the third grade, two kids were arguing in the schoolyard, about whose dad was stronger. I jumped into the argument with all the pride and confidence in the world, "my grandpa can beat up both of your dads."

99% of my favorite childhood memories happened around him and grandma.
