He was born to Delbert and Erma Louise Wilde Gerrard on October 19, 1943 in Salmon, Idaho. He attended Dugway High School, graduating in 1962. In his youth Elden enjoyed rabbit hunting and playing basketball and football. As a young man, he proudly served his country after joining the Navy as a radio operator, spending time in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged. Later in life he developed a love for square dancing, and was considered a professional square dancer. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held different callings over the years. He worked for Unisys for over 25 years.
Elden married Carla May Cotton and together had two children, they were later divorced. He then married the love of his life, Trudy Wardle on September 3, 1992. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River LDS Temple. He loved helping Trudy at the school, especially with the snow removal and he enjoyed having BBQ’s with Trudy and all the teachers. Elden’s pride and joy was the cabin in Fairview that he built with Trudy, with the help of many friends and family members. He enjoyed riding the 3-wheelers, and having his family together for dinner and BBQ’s. He loved football and was an avid BYU fan and season ticket holder. He disliked the color red, it was BYU blue all the way.
Elden was a wonderful, loving, unassuming, sarcastic man who will be sorely missed by his loved ones.
