David Clyde Sherrill, a beloved father, husband, brother, and master of laughter, bid us farewell on June 26, 2023, leaving an irreplaceable void. Born on May 27, 1968, in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the cherished youngest child of Rella and Sam Sherrill and the adored baby brudder of Tami, Lori, and Jodi.
David excelled in baseball and skiing, conquering life's slopes and curve balls. In 1988, he found his soulmate, Rachel Morris, with whom he shared laughter, tears, and the rollercoaster of life. Their love story reached its pinnacle when they were blessed with their miracle baby boy, Samuel Duane Sherrill.
David's pride and joy knew no bounds when it came to his son, Samuel. From boy scouts and little league to high school wrestling and college, David dedicated his heart and soul to being the best father, offering unwavering love.
With his jokes, David could crack even the toughest nut, his melodies had the power to turn any frown upside down, and his "Sup Yo" texts injected joy straight into the soul. Sundays will forever lack his "Back-to-Work" tunes that made us simultaneously chuckle and dread the upcoming week.
David's dedication to his family and friends was boundless. He was the life of the party, the bringer of joy, and the glue that held us together. Though deeply felt, his absence leaves behind a memory that warms our hearts.
David is survived by his loving wife, Rachel; his remarkable son, Samuel (Samantha); and his adoring sisters, Tami (Weston) and Lori (Brett). He was preceded in death by his parents, Rella and Sam, and his beloved sister, Jodi (survived by Randy). The Sherrill family extends their gratitude to David's second family, the Godfreys, for their unwavering support.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Valley View Memorial (4335 W. 4100 S. West Valley City). Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM.
Rest in peace, dear Ice Man, and may your infectious humor continue to brighten the heavens above.
