Darrell W Robbins was the second son born to Donald W Robbins and Donna Mae Stordahl on December 27, 1955 in Boise, Idaho. Due to his father’s job transfers, the family moved and relocated quite often. They moved to Pocatello, Idaho (where his brother Dee was born), then La Grande, Oregon, then Twin Falls, Idaho (where his brother Douglas was born), then to Belmont, California, and then San Jose, California. He lived in Carmichael, California during his high school years where he attended and graduated from Del Campo High School in 1974. After graduation he worked on the Dole plantation in Lanai, Hawaii for the summer harvesting pineapples to earn money. He served an LDS mission in Sao Paolo, Brazil from 1975–1977. After returning home, he attended American River College in Sacramento, CA, from 1977–1979. He then transferred to BYU in Provo, Utah to study Communications.
Darrell had previously met his future wife, Molly, years before at multiple church dances in California, but they reacquainted and began dating in the early 80s. They were married in 1982 and welcomed their first daughter, Kristin, later that year. He was sealed to his wife and daughter on May 28, 1983 in the Ogden, Utah Temple. He joined the US Army and moved to Sacramento, where his son, Jaron, was born. The Army then moved him to Fort Sill in Oklahoma where his son, Scott, was born. After being discharged honorably from the Army, he moved with his family back to Salt Lake City where is daughter, Brooke, was born. He began school at the U of U, and also began working as a security officer at the U of U Hospital. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a Master’s degree in Linguistics. He also taught ESL classes at Westminster College and Communications classes at the U of U for a time. In 1991, he and his wife purchased a home and moved their family to Magna, Utah where his daughter, Carly was born.
He and his wife eventually divorced and he never remarried. He retired from the U Hospital in 2017. After his retirement he spent most of his time researching his family history and regularly caring for his grandchildren.
He was taken back to live with our Heavenly Father on February 3, 2019.
He is survived by his children: Kristin (Brandon), Jaron (Lauren), Scott, Brooke (Thad), and Carly (Chris), his 4 grandsons and 2 granddaughters, and also his brothers David, Dee, Keith, and Doug and step-mother, DonnaLee.
He is preceded in death by his children’s mother, Molly, his mother, Donna Mae, his father, Donald W, and his younger brother, Douglas.
