Boyd L Warnick, age 86, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, March 24, 2016. He was born January 27, 1930, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, with his twin brother, Loyd, to Blaine Warnick and Veloy Servilla Petersen. Boyd spent his early years in Pleasant Grove before moving to and spending his formative years in Montana. He then returned to Pleasant Grove after high school graduation. He served in the LDS Western States Mission, followed by service in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Essex. Boyd graduated from Brigham Young University and received a master's degree in economics from Utah State University. He married Helen Viklund on August 8, 1956, in the Salt Lake Temple. He served two terms in the Utah State Legislature. Boyd and Loyd operated their own trucking company. He retired as division chair from the Salt Lake Community College School of Business. He served a mission with his wife at the LDS Institute of Religion at Salt Lake Community College. They also served together in the Jordan River Temple. Boyd is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Paul (Mimi), Diane (Robert) Follett, Annette (Michael) Lowe, Shari (Dale) Kendall, and Jim (Heather) Chatelain; and son-in-law, Randy (Pam) Harrison. He is also survived by his 14 amazing grandchildren, Emily Harrison, Claire Warnick, Liz (Adam) Baldry, Seth Warnick, Adam Follett, Eric Follett, Whitney (Neil) Johnatakis, Andrew Follett, Mason Lowe, Kelsey Kendall, Jace Kendall, Jordan Kendall, Nathan Chatelain, and Spencer Chatelain; and siblings Loyd (Jane), Erlend (Jerri), Norma Clark, and Glenn. Boyd was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Harrison; sister, Myrna; and his parents. The family expresses deep appreciation to Dr. Jeffrey Ayers, and the caregivers from Intermountain Homecare and Hospice, as well as other medical professionals for their tender loving care of our husband, father and grandfather. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the General Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.Services will be held Monday, March 28, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the Taylorsville Gardens 1st Ward chapel, 4252 South Bennion Road in Taylorsville. A viewing will be held Sunday, March 27, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road in Taylorsville, and Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel.
