Bob was born in Hartford, KY on January 16, 1944 to Samuel Hardin and Jewell Cova (Gabbard) Chapman.
He married Linda Knackmus on May 10, 1964 in West Salem and they enjoyed over 47 years of life together. Linda preceded him in death on September 8, 2011.
Bob enjoyed life and had a variety of interests. He was a 25 year member of the West Salem Volunteer Fire Department, a Shriner member most of his adult life and was a member of the West Salem Masonic Lodge #866 since July 1, 1982. He loved music and was a drummer for a local band that played at different venues over the years. Another interest that caught his attention and held it until has passing was his admiration of motor vehicles. He owned several different cars and trucks over the years and kept photos on hand of most of them. For many years Bob thoroughly enjoyed farming, being outdoors and was also an avid hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
He leaves many memories to his children, Tammy (Lloyd) James of Evansville, IN, Tony (Milisa) Chapman of West Salem, grandchildren: Cassey (Ryan) Vanmeter, Brittney (Justin) Fortner, Lindi Carlson, Tony Chapman II, Chelsea Chapman, great-grandchildren: Alison Vanmeter, Mason Carlson, Jeramiah Carlson, Kayla Conover, Eli VanMeter, Lillian Fortner and Madelynn Fortner and his two sisters, Shirley Smith of Cisne, IL and Penny Blackburn of Pensacola, FL.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 5 to 7 PM at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem, IL.
Funeral service will be at 10AM on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the funeral home.
He will be carried in the back of his pick- up truck to his final earthly resting place; the Moravian Cemetery, where a committal service will take place following the funeral.
Memorials may be made to the West Salem Volunteer Firemen’s Association.
Bob enjoyed his blue jeans and western shirts and all friends and family are encouraged to wear casual clothing for his services.
