Born on December 1, 1925, in Colon, Matanzas, Cuba to Ramon Maura and Ursina Ruiz Maura, Victoria shed laughter and joy on everyone she knew. In 1944, Victoria married Jesus Tomas Martinez and they raised four children, Virginia, Margarita, Rayda and Jesus.
As a young mother in Cuba, she was known to coordinate “Las Mañanitas” for friends and family, waking them up in the middle of the night (2-3am) with a birthday song performed by all the children in the neighborhood. Once having moved to the United States, she enjoyed being a grandmother and for over 30 Christmases, would dress up as Santa Claus for her grand and great-grandchildren, always making sure to wear gloves so the children wouldn’t recognize her hands, even though her face was recognizable through her Santa beard, which she made of cotton balls and scotch tape.
Loved by so many, Victoria was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Ursina, her brother, Fidel, and her Husband, Jesus. She is survived by her four children Virginia (Jose, deceased), Margarita (Segundo, deceased) Rayda, (Francisco) and Jesus (Maritza); Grandchildren, Jesus, Antonio, Henry, Tatiana, Dunia, Darlene, Jason and Frank along with their spouses, 12½ great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, and friends, all of West Palm Beach Florida.
