Lieutenant Colonel (ret) USAR, Paul William Consiglio, 72, of West Palm Beach, formerly of Neshanic Station, NJ, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer with his family by his side on August 31, 2023. Paul was born in Jersey City, NJ to the late Rachael Perri and Dominick Carmelo Consiglio. Paul attended Marist High School, Bayonne, NJ and received a BS from St. Peter’s College, Jersey City, NJ.
Paul began his distinguished career with Abbott Laboratories in 1973. At the time of his retirement in 2009, he was the National Account Manager for Abbott Nutrition. Paul proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves for 29 years. After being retired from the military for 19 years, Paul voluntarily returned as active-duty Lieutenant Colonel in May of 2020 to assist with the COVID-19 pandemic. While working at the Carl R. Darnall Medical Center in Ft. Hood Texas, he was designated the leader of the team of retirees and recognized for his service. Additionally, he served as a Commissioner for the Somerset County Parks Commission, a Sergeant at Arms for the NJ State Senate, and President of the Board for the Palm Beach House.
Aside from his professional achievements Paul’s greatest love and passion was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He shared wonderful times with them traveling the world, enjoying the beach, and just staying home where he loved cooking and preparing his special dishes. Paul found great joy in spending time with his large extended family and friends, meeting new people, and creating wonderful entertaining memories. Some of his favorite past times included golf, sailing, wine making, and yoga.
Paul is survived by his wife of 48 years Donna Angelica Consiglio; his amazing children: Angelica Consiglio Zajac and her husband Michael; Dominick Paul Consiglio and his wife Megan; Ashley Consiglio Bateman and her husband Joseph; and six grandchildren: Sebastian, Michalene, Liliana, Nicolette, Jack, and Henry; his loving sister Nancy Berger; his loyal cousin Anthony Pastore, and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother Rocco.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his nursing care, Judi Flynn, Elaine Kydonieus, and Kathie Hewins, as well as Ron Devivo, Tony Pastore, Trustbridge Hospice - the Opal team, and the many wonderful doctors and medical professionals at UMiami, MSK, and NYU who cared for Paul during his long battle.
Paul will be laid to rest with military honors at South Florida National Cemetery, located at 6501 South State Rd. 7 Lake Worth, Florida– Wednesday, September 27 at 11am.
