Nereida Ramirez Rodriguez of Lake Worth, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 9, 2023, at the young age of 103. She was born in San German, Puerto Rico, where her parents Aurelio Ramirez and Maria Flora Murphy lived and raised a family of 11.
She worked as a bilingual executive secretary for the US Army at Ft. Buchanan in San Juan, where she met and married Lt. Luis R. Rodriguez. Their life together became an adventure, which included her husband’s 23-year military career that took her from Puerto Rico to Germany, until finally settling in Florida. She loved to travel and with her husband, was stationed in several Central American countries while on assignment with US A.I.D.
Nereida is survived by her three children Raul (wife Angela), Marilyn, and Hebe (husband Arsenio); her four grandchildren Raina, Vanessa, Rebecca, and Michael; her six great-grandchildren; and three of her 11 siblings.
Nereida was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a strong, nurturing, and compassionate woman who was a friend to all who knew and experienced her unconditional love and acceptance. Her legacy is a gift for which we are all grateful.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33405.
