He was born in Hartford, CT on November 15, 1965 and grew up in New England.
Mitch graduated from Seneca High School in Maryland, and received his Associates Degree from Mackintosh College in New Hampshire. Mitch was an exceptional athlete all of his life and played baseball and football when he was young. Mitch started skiing at 1 year of age guided by his Dad who was a ski instructor in Aspen. At the age of 5 he began to participate in motocross. By the age of 12 he was the best of the youth riders in New England. He competed in 3 national championships in PA and TX. Mitch and his brothers, Paul and Colorado, continued to ski and ride together throughout their lives.
He spent most of his career in the restaurant business and seafood industry. He worked in both the culinary aspect and management of restaurants and also worked as a commercial fisherman in Louisiana and Florida. He transitioned into seafood sales using his experience and knowledge in both the restaurants and fishing industry. Known for his ability to source and supply the finest seafood, Mitch excelled both nationally and internationally and was very successful throughout his career.
Mitch moved to Florida in the early 90’s, married Kathy in 1996, and started their family in 1998. He was a devoted husband and father who loved to spend time with his kids. He spent countless hours on the motocross track with, his son Trent and surfing with, his daughter, Taylor. Mitch greatest joy was spending time cooking and enjoying a great meal with his entire family.
Mitch is survived by his wife, Kathryn; children, Trent and Taylor; his father, Mitchell C Willis, II and his wife Pamela Walker Willis; his mother, Anne Dubois and husband Edward Dubois; brothers, Colorado Willis, Justin Dubois, John Martin Willis; and sister Jessica Walker Willis. Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, November 11, 2016 at QUATTLEBAUM FUNERAL, CREMATION & EVENT CENTER, 5411 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL, 33417. A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 PM, with Pastor Aaron Filippone of the Family Church Gardens, officiating.
