Michael is survived by his two children; Jeneen Alise Mangel and her future husband, Chris Hoeffner and Rocco Jason Mangel and his future wife, Celeste Salas. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Charles Mangel. Michael was a proud “Grandpa” to his beloved granddaughter, Charley Layne Mangel. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and Emanuel Mangel.
Michael was born in Manhattan, grew up in East Meadow, and lived on Long Island for 45 years. He has spent the past 30 years living in Palm Beach, Florida. Much of his life was spent as a restaurateur – he owned and operated Michael Restaurant in Hauppauge, New York for many years. He also sold real estate in New York and Florida. Michael was known for his witty sense of humor and had the keen ability to make others laugh and smile. Michael loved New York City and the Hamptons. He had a great eye for style, decorating and design. Michael was charming, personable and always generous with his heart and sweet gifts.
The family will receive guests for a celebration of his life from 4:00-7:00pm on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center located at: 5411 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, Florida 33417.
