MARION PAULINE MOONEY July 21. 1921 - September 3, 2011 Marion passed away in Rutherfordton, NC, surrounded by several family members. She was a long time resident of West Palm Beach before moving to North Carolina. She will be returned to West Palm Beach where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Robert T. Mooney Sr. Marion is survived by numerous family members to include her sister, Katherine Rybovich; her sons, Robert Mooney Jr. (Sarah); Timothy Mooney (Stacey); Shawn Mooney (Nance); and Erik Mooney (Lisa); her daughters, Sharon Bouvier (Arthur); Judith Dunn (Charles); Kathleen Barwell (Louis); Ann Patrice Casale (William); Carolyn Moore (Scott); and Maria Barwell. She was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Gabrielle Battaglia (Ralph); her brother, Eric Jordahn; and her sister, Anna Elsa Klein. Marion has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews who will all miss her dearly. Marion was always an active person who loved the outdoors. She earned her pilot's license in the 1960s and she enjoyed practicing at the Lantana Airport. She was an accomplished angler who enjoyed days out on the ocean with her sister, Kay, catching sailfish. She was a brilliant woman who had a successful nursing career which started upon her graduation from Vanderbilt University. She started out at Jackson Memorial Hospital before returning to West Palm Beach where at different points during her career she held the Director of Nursing position at Good Samaritan, St. Mary's and Glades Memorial Hospitals. She was a pioneer of the LPN programs at North Tech and West Tech where she assisted in developing the curriculum for the schools. Marion was the quintessential multi-tasker who always had time for her eleven children and all their activities. She was recognized in the PB Post on May 8, 1961 as "Mother of the Year".
